COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
1. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of the historical background and development of the Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) approach to rehabilitation.
2. Participants will develop a profound working knowledge of the foundational PNF philosophies and basic principles that guide and influence every patient encounter.
3. Participants will receive thorough instruction regarding the PNF patterns of facilitation and be able to consistently demonstrate appropriate execution of psychomotor skills.
4. Participants will acquire a deep working knowledge of ten PNF movement techniques and be able to appropriately employ them in conjunction with the patterns of facilitation.
5. Participants will be able to develop and administer well informed intervention strategies for patients with a variety of impairments and functional limitations, utilizing the PNF movement techniques and patterns of facilitation.
Course Instructor
Matt is a California native, growing up in Santa Cruz County. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Human Performance Management at Weber State University in 2012. During his time at Weber State, Matt played wide receiver for the university football team. Matt received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Western University of Health Sciences in 2018. After graduating from physical therapy school, Matt completed an intensive 9-month training program at Kaiser Foundation Rehabilitation Center, where he studied proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF). Following completion of his training at KFRC, Matt achieved the recognition of Certified PNF Therapist through the International PNF Association. Matt is also a graduate of the accredited sports physical therapy residency program at University of Florida Health. Here he participated in the rehabilitation management of student athletes from a variety of different intercollegiate sports teams at University of Florida. In 2021, Matt became board certified as a Sports Clinical Specialist (SCS) through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. Matt currently holds the position of performance physical therapist at Irvine Orthopedic Sports Therapy in Orange County, where he treats a variety of athletic populations ranging from high school to professional.
